Being called to Carmel is a vocation stemming from a desire deep within us planted by Christ Himself. Secular Carmelites embrace a lifelong commitment to growing in holiness with the help of our Brothers and Sisters in Christ and the guidance of our Carmelite Saints.
A life lived in Carmel means to live in the ‘beautiful Garden of God’. Carmel heightens our spiritual awareness and enlarges our hearts through love. Through daily meditation, our friendship with Christ deepens into Love. The more we become aware that God is within us, the more we are aware that He is in everyone else, and we can begin to love them as He loves us.
This Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS), Mary Help of Christians, is a uniquely strong and close community. We come from all walks of life, professions, experiences and ages, yet there is an authentic intimacy and respect in our friendships.
We are incredibly blessed to be a part of the Holy Hill Community, and we benefit tremendously from the Spiritual Assistance of the Friars whom we are honored to call our brothers. We are formed and learn together, from visitors to Final Promises for the rest of our lives, until we are called to Eternal Life, through His Great Mercy and Grace.
